Our Community
P.S. 179 is located in the Kensington section of Brooklyn, New York near the major intersection of Church and McDonald Avenues. We serve a population of approximately 940 students from culturally diverse backgrounds. The community is home to immigrants from Asia, specifically Bangladesh and Pakistan, the Caribbean, Mexico, the Middle East and Uzbekistan.

It is P.S. 179's vision to develop a collaborative learning environment that maintains a rigorous academic curriculum, which will focus on the New York City and New York State Standards.
