Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome to all our students and families of P.S. 179! We are excited and look forward to working with you and your children this year. Please see below to learn about important announcements and events taking place at P.S. 179.
ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL: Schools starts at 8:10 AM in the Main Entrance. Anytime after 8:10, it is required that your child visit the Main Office and receive a late pass. Dismissal is at 2:30 PM on the E 2nd St. side of the school yard. If you are late picking up your child, they will be released to you in P.S. 179’s auditorium.
- Communication: We encourage parents to talk to us! You will receive an invitation to join ClassDojo, an app. that will give you access to messaging us on your cell phone (it also has a translator that may be useful to communicate). On ClassDojo you will find photos and stories that show your child's learning experiences in the classroom. ClassDojo is also a great tool that allows you to keep in contact with your child's teacher!
- Parent Engagment- P.S. 179 also has weekly Parent Engagement meetings every Tuesday from 2:45-3:15 PM. Please meet with your child's teacher to set up an appointment to learn about your child's progress.
- Communication Folders- We will be sending home a P.S. 179 communication folder with your child. Please check your child's folder and return it daily to keep updated on important events and notices.
Thank you parents and families for all of your support in helping our school community provide the best learning experiences to all students!
