On Tuesday, October 31, 2018 we will be having our literary character day parade! We will be celebrating favorite book characters and participating in the P.S. 179 costume parade. Don't forget to come see your child march as their favorite book character!

Our PBIS theme for May is being noble. We will be discussing and learning ways on how to be noble by exploring different text and modeling noble behaviors interactively with teachers and peers.

ELA MONTHLY THEMES
For the month of May students will be reading a variety of fiction texts and focusing on recalling key details by identifying characters, settings, and major events from the story. Students will also use the key details from each story to practice making text to self connections.
Guided Reading- Students will be working interactively with teachers using Myon and other interactive programs to continue practicing letter sound knowledge, sentence building, and reading fluency skills. See below for resources to support your child at home.

MATH MONTHLY THEMES
For the month of May students will work interactivity with teachers using Envision math and additional interactive math programs to continue building fluency. Students will continue using counting and problem solving strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems and to explore two and three dimensional shapes.
